Miss Sports Medicine Department. He provides continuous care, covering football
games, as well as traveling with the team
during the season.
As a Southern Miss graduate, he has
been a long time supporter of Golden Eagle
athletics. Serving as team doctor for all 16
varsity sports is just one of his duties. Beam
is the medical director of Work Well Clinic,
the occupational health medicine service
of Wesley Medical Center and Wesley’s VA
Clinic of Hattiesburg. He is certified in occupational medicine, AAFP Board Certified in
Family Practice and has received advanced
training in sports medicine.
In addition, Beam is actively involved
with the Southern Miss Athletic Training
Department, serving as an instructor in the
school’s department of health, human performance and recreation.
Beam is married to former Dawn
Henderson of Brandon, Miss. The couple has
five children, Amy, Jason, Matt, Sam and Will.

Team Orthopaedic Physician
Dr. Lance Line has served as one of the team orthopaedic surgeons for the
Golden Eagles’ sports medicine department
since 1995. He provides a subspecialty
interest in shoulder and elbow conditions.
He received his medical degree from the
University of Mississippi School of Medicine
in 1983 and subsequently completed his residency at University Medical Center in Jackson
in 1994. Following his residency, he completed a one-year fellowship in Sports Medicine
and Arthroscopy in Richmond, Va., which
included an internship with the Pittsburgh
Steelers of the National Football League.
He is Board Certified and a member of the
American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Apart from his work at Southern Bone
and Joint, Dr. Line serves as the Medical
Network for Southern Sports Medicine
and Encore Rehabilitation. In addition
to Southern Miss, Dr. Line serves as the
Team Physician for Pearl River Community
College and William Carey College as well
as several area High Schools. In the com-
munity, he has served on the Board of the
Pine Burr Chapter of the Boy Scouts and is
Grand Giver for the United Way as well as
being a past Co-Chair for their Grand Givers
Campaign. He has served as a Clinical
Instructor for USM’s School of Health and
Human Performance and is a member of
Southern Miss’ Circle of Champions.
