Mississippi where he worked with the
men’s tennis and men’s and women’s golf
teams. While at Ole Miss, the men’s tennis
team made back-to-back appearances in
the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
The 2005 Fresno State graduate served
as a student assistant in the athletic training
office from 2003-05.
A native of Fresno, Calif., Katsuta earned
his bachelor’s degree in sports medicine
from Fresno State in May of 2005 and
completed his master’s degree in science/
exercise science from Ole Miss in May
of 2007. Katsuta is a National Certified
Athletic Trainer and is a member of the
National Athletic Trainers Association,
Southeast Athletic Trainers Association,
Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association and
is certified in CPR by the American Heart
Association.

Cedric Scott begins his first basket- ball season as Assistant Strength and
Conditioning Coach and his second season
at Southern Miss.
Scott is a a graduate of Southern Miss
where he was an All-Conference performer and defensive standout on the
football team. During his tenure, he was
an All-American and named the 2000
Conference USA Defensive Player of the
Year. Following graduation, Scott was
drafted in the fourth round of the 2001
NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He
later went on to play with the Cleveland
Browns, as well as the Scottish Claymores
of the World League of American Football
and the Edmonton Eskimos of the
Canadian Football League.
A native of Gulfport, Miss., Scott received
his undergraduate degree in Exercise
Physiology from Southern Miss in 2000; and
his master’s degree in Sports Management
in 2009; also from Southern Miss. He
is currently pursuing certifications from
teh Collegiate Strength and Conditioning
Coaches Association, the National Strength
and Conditioning Association, and USA
Weightlifting.
Scott resides in Hattiesburg and is
married to the former Dorian Wallace, a
Southern Miss graduate. The couple has one
son, Cedric “CJ” Scott, Jr.
