universities.
• The university has been honored with
the Carnegie Community Engagement
Classification for the many ways in which
its students, faculty, staff and programs
enhance the lives of South Mississippians.
• The 864-bed, Silver LEED-certified
Century Park Residential Complex opened
for freshman students in fall 2010. In addition, the university opened a 1,200-square-
foot, five-story parking garage this spring.
The facility represents the university’s
commitment to protecting green space in
that duplicating the garage’s 1,200 spaces
would have required surface parking
equivalent to an area the size of eight football fields.
